One of my favorite things in the world to enjoy when I go to New York City is a Falafel sandwich or a Falafel bowl. I have not found a place locally that makes it good enough for me to get as take out. And going into the city whenever I want falafel is not an option. That left me with finding a way to make everything myself at home.I have my go to falafel recipe that I have used for years and my go to Tzatziki sauce recipe which I normally use to make a Falafel Sandwich. However I LOVE the New York Falafel bowls and the bowls have Turmeric Rice.I did not have a Turmeric Rice recipe. I knew in order to make a copy cat of my favorite Falafel bowl I needed to have a good Indian rice recipe. It took a bit of time but I figured it out and I LOVE this recipe. This rice tastes just like the rice I get in my falafel bowl in New York and I don’t have to drive 3 hours round trip and pay a bunch of crazy tolls to enjoy my favorite NYC food!

Making Rice in the Instant Pot

Cooking rice in the instant pot is a quick and easy way to cook rice. If you are running short on time then this is the easiest and fastest way to make Turmeric Rice.The reason I stick with my Instant Pot when making this rice is because normally my counters are covered in everything else needed to make my falafel and the Tzatziki sauce. I wanted something that made clean up and making it all a little bit easier, and the Instant Pot makes things way easier then cooking rice on the stove.

Turmeric Rice Recipe Ingredients

• 2 garlic cloves minced
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 2 cups white rice
• 2 cups water
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 2 teaspoons turmeric Powder

How to Make Turmeric Rice in the InstantPot

Set instant pot to sauté and add in the olive oil and garlic. Cook until garlic has just started brown and turn off the heat.

Add the rice, water, turmeric and salt to the pot, stir until well combined. Placed the lid onto the instant pot and set it to pressure cook for five minutes.

Allow instant pot to naturally release for an additional five minutes and then use the button to remove any excess steam. Stir the rice to mix in all of the flavors.
