Copycat Starbucks Hot Chocolate Recipe

Crockpot Hot Chocolate Version

I figured out an easy way to warm up after the snow. I make crockpot hot chocolate.

There are two things I love during the winter they are Starbucks hot chocolate and my slow cooker I decided to combine the two. This is a recipe for “Starbucks like” hot cocoa or Starbucks Hot Chocolate. It is sweet and savory. It is the perfect answer to a long day outside and something my kids have grown to request after a play outside in the cold.

Serving size for 8 cups

  • 2 cup of water
  • 8 Tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa (chocolate syrup will do if you are stuck inside and do not have this)
  • 8 Tablespoons of sugar
  • 6 cups if milk
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla
  • whip cream as a topping youcan never have to much whip cream ( I am snowed in and didn’t have whip cream. Whip cream doesn’t last long in my house.)
  • Pour into a mason jar

You will combine all of the ingredients in your crockpot. Then you will turn it on low for an hour and it will be ready for when you come in from the snow. If you are going to be longer put it on warm. This is a great way to have a hot beverage ready when you are done playing outside.

Here’s the Stove-top Version of Copycat Starbucks Hot Chocolate Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream or marshmallows for topping (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the milk and heavy cream and heat over medium heat until steaming. Make sure do not let the mixture boil, as this can scorch the milk and ruin the flavor.
  2. Once the milk and cream are steaming, add the chocolate chips to the saucepan and stir constantly until the chocolate has melted and is fully incorporated into the mixture.
  3. Add the granulated sugar and vanilla extract to the saucepan and continue stirring until the sugar has dissolved.
  4. Continue to heat the mixture until it reaches your desired temperature, then remove it from the heat.
  5. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and garnish with whipped cream or marshmallows, if desired.

This recipe makes enough hot chocolate for two servings, so you can share with a loved one or enjoy a second cup yourself. You can also double or triple the recipe if you want to make more.

One of the great things about this copycat recipe is that it’s highly customizable.

If you prefer a sweeter hot chocolate, you can increase the amount of sugar you add.

If you like a stronger chocolate flavor, you can use dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet. You can even experiment with different toppings, such as chocolate shavings, cinnamon, or caramel sauce.

Making a copycat version of Starbucks hot chocolate is easy and delicious. With just a few simple ingredients, you can enjoy a rich and creamy hot chocolate that rivals the taste of the famous Starbucks version.
